Who is DANIEL EDAH?

About

DANIEL EDAH – The Story of a Visionary Leader

In the quiet village of Godouhoué, nestled in the commune of Djakotomey in southwest Benin, a young boy was raised in modest conditions but with a wealth of dreams. His name was Daniel Edah, and from an early age, his path was shaped by a deep appreciation for the power of education. For Daniel, the fact that his parents enrolled him in school was nothing short of a blessing. That education, he would later say, was the most precious inheritance they ever gave him.

Academic background

Driven by this early gift, Daniel dedicated his life to empowering others — through knowledge, justice, and development. He studied Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Abomey-Calavi, followed by a Master’s in Project Management from ISM Adonaï in Togo, and later a Certificate in Economic, Social and Cultural Rights from Geneva’s Henry Dunant University Centre. These tools would become the compass for his lifelong mission: building a fairer, more inclusive, and prosperous Benin.

Professional career and commitments

As a student, Daniel was not content to learn in silence. He became a vibrant voice in student activism, directing the Artistic and Cultural Ensemble of Students (EACE–UNESCO Club), using culture as a bridge to raise awareness and mobilize his peers for social change. It was clear even then — this was a leader in the making.
He would go on to serve as a consultant, a civil servant, and a respected international officer. But in 2014, he made a life-changing choice: to leave the comfort of a rising international career and return home. The reason? A calling to serve the people of Benin, not from abroad, but from within — to ignite a movement for national transformation with his vision of an economically prosperous and socially stable Benin in a well-integrated and booming Africa.
He founded the political party Mouvement pour la Prospérité Solidaire (MPS) was elected to local office, and in 2016, ran for president. His journey has since been a steady march forward, grounded in principles and fueled by purpose.

Commitments

In 2024, with the same vision he is promoting since 2014, he created NOUS LE FERONS, a citizen-driven movement focused on building a Benin that is economically strong, socially united, and proudly African.
Daniel Edah’s story is also one of recognition. In 2017, he was selected for the U.S. State Department’s IVLP program on governance. In 2023, he received the African Inspirational Leadership Award in New York, during a major African and Caribbean leadership forum at the United Nations. That same year, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Relations and Diplomacy by Myles Leadership University in Lagos — a testament to the impact of his voice on the global stage.
But perhaps what matters most to him is not the titles or accolades — it’s the future. The future of Benin. A country he believes can reconcile with itself, break through divisions, and rise through unity. A country where every child, like the one he once was, has the chance to learn, lead, and dream big.
Dr. Daniel Edah is more than a political figure. He is a builder of bridges — between past and future, between tradition and innovation, between Benin and the world. With courage, conviction, and vision, he continues to call on all Beninese to say together: “Nous le ferons.” — We will do it.
